TRIP LEADERS FOR OUR CLUB!
What does it mean to be a Trip Leader for the Tampa Bay Ski Club? Of course you get to do all the fun stuff like meeting all sorts of interesting new people, visit world class ski resorts, plan fun events while you ski the best snow in the West! But what about the “pay back”, what is expected of you in return? Here is the deal…
SALES! Like the saying goes… “Nothing happens until somebody sells something!” You should plan to contact all your friends, family and prior trip participants and tell them about your great trip! You will need to be available by phone and email to answer questions from prospects and to follow up on contacts made by the
Travelworld office. There will be one or two “Kick-off Parties” where you will have an opportunity to meet prospects face to face, tell them about your trip and get to know them.
OPERATIONS: You get to plan your own Pre-trip Party and all on-the-mountain activities, all the fun stuff, in conjunction with the Travelworld staff. Party funds will be provided by Travelworld. All your input on trip planning will be welcome. You are responsible for turning in receipts for the party money and making a brief report on the trip operation and activities. On the trip, you will perform the normal Trip Leader duties like distributing a packet of info to your travelers at the airport, getting everyone and their luggage on the right bus, assisting at hotel check in, distributing the lift tickets and otherwise helping your travelers take advantage of all the events you have organized. Of course, when “Murphy’s Law” takes effect, you will do your best to solve any problems that may arise.
SUPPORT: Travelworld will do ALL trip accounting, keep all the records, keep track of air and lodging availability, send out the statements, collect all the money, pay all the bills and keep you informed of your trip status at all times. You are responsible only for the party money!
Tampa Bay Ski Club will, with your input, write the trip descriptions and create the websites. Tampa Bay Ski Club will provide you with air and rooming lists, contact information and all the other information you need to run a successful trip. There will be no advertising sales, donation solicitations or boring meetings to attend.
TRAINING: Most of you have run trips before and will use that experience for the benefit of your travelers. Close one-on-one support will be provided by the Tampa Bay Ski Club staff, particularly by the Trip Administrator assigned to your trip. Some of the
Tampa Bay Ski Club Staff has visited all the resorts we plan to visit and in almost all instances can give you first hand information about the lodging, ski areas and towns. Some FAM trips may also be available.
COMPENSATION: Yes, of Course! Trip Leaders will receive a credit equal to the advertised price of the trip and a free lift ticket. The credit can be used for any type of lodging you select. Where possible,
Tampa Bay Ski Club will obtain free upgrades for trip leaders. Couples are encouraged to run trips together as a team and to share both the responsibilities and the compensation. Some minimum trip participation will be required for full compensation, but partial compensation will be paid on a pro-rata basis when established minimums are not met. These will vary from trip to trip. Trip Leaders are responsible for filling the balance of their lodging unit.
Assistant Trip Leaders will receive compensation depending on the size of the trip and the duties required. Again this will be on a trip-by-trip basis. Assistant Leaders are assigned primarily for training purposes.
SELECTION: The primary goal is to assign the Leader who will do the best job for the travelers on each trip! We want satisfied travelers who will want to go again! The Leaders experience and qualifications will determine the trips assigned. You will receive a proposed schedule of trips and will be asked to list your top three choices. Write a little note about your experience in general and specifically about each trip. Mention any dates you will not be available and any dates that would work well for you. Please do not ask for a trip to a site you have not previously visited. You may run more than one trip and couples may run trips together. Please note multiple dates when applicable.
The trip schedule should be out in July, but you are encouraged
to send in a preliminary application ASAP!
