Meet the Trip Leaders!
Tampa Bay Ski Club Trip Leaders
Welcome to the Trip Leaders Section of our Web Site! These hard working, fun loving people will be very important to you. If you have never been on one of our trips, this is what you can expect from your trip leader...
Before you go they are hard at work planning activities and social events for you to enjoy on the trip. Each has been to the resort before so you are getting first hand information. The leaders are available to you as a source for information about the resort, the lodging, the transportation and the special activities planned.
On the way to the resort, they assist with boarding, check in, bus transportation and general information about the trip schedule or events. At the resort they assist with check in, lift ticket distribution and rental equipment. Then the fun begins! There will be Welcome Receptions, Happy Hours, picnics, parties, even a full dinner on most trips! Each leader is different; each has their own knack for entertaining. But they are always looking out for their travelers and making sure they all have a good time. And then on the few occasions when “Murphy’s Law” is in effect, they are there to help.
A couple of things they are not are: baby sitters, nursemaids, bookkeepers, baggage handlers, dishwashers or ski instructors. All travelers are urged to work together to make the trip more fun for everyone. We are pleased to have such a dedicated, experienced group of leaders, look them over and join us for a great ski trip!
Chris Elam - Tampa, FL
Chris is a native of Tampa and has worked with skiers as a Travel Agent at Bowen Travel for 13 years. She has coordinated more than a hundred group trips all over the USA and Canada. This will be her fifth year of leading ski trips to Colorado for our Ski Club. In addition, she has visited many ski areas such as Heavenly, Breckenridge, Winter Park, Keystone, Copper, Vail, Aspen, Beaver Creek and Snowmass. She loves traveling out west and taking care of “her people” as a ski trip leader. Let Chris put her enthusiasm and experience to work for you at Copper Mountain.

Cindy Dickerson
Hello Skiers and Boarders:
My name is Cindy Dickerson and I am the trip leader of the Keystone #1 trip over Martin Luther King Weekend, 2013. A little about me… I am the commercial sales manager for Carrier Air Conditioning, a great company where I have worked for over 20 years. I have a USF sophomore son, Zack, who is an avid skier and always travels on my trips with me and is my “unofficial assistant”. It is the best family time we get all year, uninterrupted Mom and Son time. It’s pretty hard to get that around home!
I have been skiing and boarding for about 10 years, and have led club trips every year for at least 8 years. Besides the several times I have been to Keystone, I have skied and/or boarded at Big Sky, Breckenridge, Park City, Copper Mountain, Crested Butte, Winter Park, A-Basin and Steamboat. A few years ago, I tried boarding and fell in love with it so haven’t strapped the skis on since then but I definitely have the perspective of both sides, having done both. You will find me either on the snow or freshly soaking in the hot tub when the lifts close every day.
I truly like people and that’s why I lead trips. My goal is for everyone on my trips to have a good time and do what they want to do on their vacation, even if it’s take the day off and sit by the fire getting in some quiet reading. I believe that our club has something to offer for the biggest enthusiast down to the family or friend who just wants to get away and take it easy for a little while.
Please consider joining me on my trip – we are going to hit the mountain hard and cool our heels with some relaxing R and R in the evenings!!

Lois Domanico
Hi Everyone. I am Lois Domanico and I have been leading trips for about 10 years and I really enjoy planning all of the events and having fun with the people on my trip.
I was a late bloomer when it comes to skiing but I fell in love with both the skiing and the beautiful scenery that the mountains have to offer. I have been to Copper Mountain, Breckenridge, Keystone, Steamboat, Vail, Snow Mass, Jackson Hole, Tahoe, The Canyons, and Lake Louise in Canada. They are all great and unique in their own way and no matter what destination you choose, you can’t go wrong.
I look forward to another great season and seeing you on the slopes!. Happy Skiing!

Terri McIvor
I'm very excited about co-leading the combined Snowmass trip March 9-16 & 10-17. Having spent most of my life in the sunbelt, I had my first opportunity to enjoy snow sports while living in Germany in the mid-80's. It was an amazing adventure. Germany and Austria were all breathtakingly beautiful, but the snow conditions were at times unpredictable. Nothing beats the Rockies for sheer pleasure!
My first trip with the ski club was to Lake Tahoe in 2006 with Judy Page-Lieberman as our fearless leader. I have been co-leader on many amazing trips since then to various ski resorts in Colorado, Montana and New Mexico. Snowmass has always been high on my list -- over 3,000 acres of terrain, 91 trails and 21 chairlifts. Definitely something for everyone!
Judy and I are busy planning a variety of events to help enhance the group experience. This will be our first ski trip as co-leaders, although we have been on many ski trips, cruises, and two memorable trips to Africa together (Egypt, Kenya and Tanzania). My personal passion of travel has taken me to 77 countries. I've yet to meet a country or ski resort I didn't like! We hope you'll join us on our upcoming adventure to Snowmass.

Bonnie Ormerod - Clearwater Beach, FL
Welcome to the Tampa Bay Ski Club for our exciting 2012 – 2013 Ski Season
I’m a Maryland/DC native and learned to ski in the northeast visiting Smuggler’s, Stowe, Killington, Sugarbush (“Ice Mountains”). I thought it was natural to ski in frigid temperatures and on ice and to me it was the best in the world. Life hands you opportunities, so I moved to FL 25 years ago and missed this passion of being in the snow and mountains. Whoever heard of ski clubs in FL? Back then information wasn’t readily available, so I created our own group with friends and family and for the past 15 years we ventured out west to Heavenly, Squaw, Kirkwood, Sierra, Park City, Deer Valley, Cannons, Snowbasin, Brian Head, Brighton, Breckenridge, Winter Park, Copper and Vail.
Another door of opportunity knocked when I read the Tampa Bay Ski Club ad in the paper last summer announcing their Kick-Off Party. The rest is history…. I went on four trips in four months and came to love Colorado! I have met wonderful people, created a lot of new friendships, always had a fabulous time and the accommodations and location were awesome. Not to mention, that it was painless just to show up and have fun. With that said, this is why I am here. Skiing is a passion of mine and I am eager to share my energy and enthusiasm with you! Some of you may enjoy all the group activities while others may want to kick back and just enjoy quite time relaxing or pampering yourself in the spa. This is your trip and your vacation and I hope to make it special for all of you. I’m looking forward to being your host hoping to provide you with fantastic memories long after we return home.
Come join me on this adventure with one of the finest mountains in the US, outstanding shopping and world famous dinning. Timing is perfect for you with the added bonus to engage in Vail’s 50th Anniversary Snow Daze Celebration! Sounds like a party to me!!!!
Hope to see you there, Bonnie O.

Fitz Rawls - Tampa, FL
Fitz is a long time skier who enjoys meeting new skiers and re-establishing friendships with many prior ski trip participants. He grew up in Tampa and learned to ski while attending college in New England. When he moved back to Tampa he found that skiing with a local ski club was the easiest, most fun and most economical way to ski from Florida! He soon became a trip leader and has taken over 40 groups to European and Rocky Mountain resorts.
He joined Bowen Travel in 1994 and is now manager of their Ski Department. He is always willing to share his expertise and experience with anyone looking for “just the right” ski tripl This year he is leading trips to a Club Med in France(with an add-on trip to London) and a trip to Whistler/Vancouver staying in Four Seasons hotels in both venues. These are deluxe high-light trips and are not to be missed by anyone wanting to ski, ski and ski some more!

Tomi Rawls - Tampa, FL
Calling All Winter Adventurers!!!
My name is Tomi Rawls and my husband, Fitz, and I will be leading the trip to France and London January 12-23 and the Whistler/Vancouver trip Mar 17-24. A bit of background.....I grew up skiing on a frozen "hill" called Boyne Mountain in northern Michigan - and later graduated to the equally frozen mountains of New England. BUT, I didn't know any better so I loved it....and I sure learned how to EDGE!!
Oddly, moving to Florida opened up Western skiing to me. I worked as a ski planner for Bowen Travel for many years. I have been fortunate to ski almost every major ski resort in the West. About 20 years ago, we started leading trips to Europe - which gave me more things to love about skiing. The panoramas of the Alps are truly breathtaking. The intimacy of the villages and the enormity of the skiable terrain is a perfect combination. Winter sports were invented, or at least perfected, in these kinds of villages. Ski, board, Nordic ski, skate, sleigh ride (real sleighs, not hay wagons),....it is all there.
I find there is a wonderful camaraderie that occurs with these groups to European destinations. Since our hotel provides breakfast, lunch and dinner, we have more time to enjoy the group....not just the people with whom we are skiing. The discovery of an incredible run and the description of spectacular wipe out is shared. And, (beware all you men) AMAZING SHOPPING is described in full detail!!! . And to top it off, we have a great add-on trip to London! (Did you note that we have the Tampa-London non-stop flights?)
Whistler is an amazing resort, so close to the Pacific Ocean, yet Alpine in all other respects. There is a huge variety of runs, cuisine for a worldwide clientele and shopping to make all the ladies happy! I have previously stayed in these Four Seasons hotels and can vouch for their excellent service! With our extra day in Vancouver you will have it all.
I hope you will join us on either of these trips....they are guaranteed to be memory-makers!!!!

Judy Page-Lieberman - Tampa, FL
I have been skiing most of my life, having started out in New England and Eastern Canada, usually in very cold and icy conditions. Once I was introduced to the American West, I was hooked. I love western skiing and I have not skied one mountain that was not spectacular!
This year I am taking one of two groups to Snowmass, one of my very favorites. Not only is Snowmass itself justifiably famous, but for one lift ticket, we can also ski Aspen, Aspen Highlands and Buttermilk. Old and new friends will join us for a wonderful week of skiing, parties, exploring the old town of Aspen, and drinking the mysterious Aspen Crud.
I hope you can join us!
Back home in Tampa, where I have lived for many years, I am a Pediatric Nurse Practitioner.

Mike Waller - Lakeland, FL
Mike grew up as an Army brat, moving every few years and yet he still loves to travel! He learned to ski at age 10 in Garmich, Germany. He also was an Army helicopter pilot for ten years and then flew in the Gulf of Mexico out to the oil rigs for ten years. Mike loves being outdoors and feeling the sun and wind on his face. Currently he and his wife operate Laser Recharge Co., a small business in Lakeland. They have 3 adult children and 2 grandchildren. After a 30-year break from skiing, it has become his passion. He has skied numerous resorts in Europe and the Rockies and is an excellent trip leader. Mike loves to share his enthusiasm for skiing with his trip participants. He is organized, capable and energetic. Join him in Winter Park this January for a great trip with lots of “extras” to go with the super slopes!

Raoul Weinstein - Lakeland, FL
Raoul has been skiing the west for over 31 years and has been a trip leader for 18 years. This year's Sertomans & Friends trip, sponsored by the Sertoma Club of Lakeland, will be the 18th annual fundraiser for Camp Endeavor, a camp in Dundee, FL for speech and hearing impaired kids. Over the past 17 years, this fun and fairly-priced trip has raised over $60,000! Raoul always plans three dinner parties for his group plus other activities that keep the group together. He has led numerous ski trips for the Tampa Bay Ski Clubs over the past 16 years. But he never lets his ski trips interfere with his other favorite past-time: being a cruise ship gentleman ballroom dance host! For the past 9 years his cruises have crossed the seven seas, visited six continents and toured many of the most exciting and exotic countries in the world. And all he has to do is dance with the ladies each evening -- what a life! He stays in shape for skiing by dancing -- or is it the other way around? He is a retired Realtor (how else could he have time for his "past-times?") and shares his time between Lakeland, FL and Greenville, SC.
